To show Chicago and Cook County the faces of union electrical members who have kept Chicago moving forward before, during, and after the pandemic, today we’re launching the We Are Powering Chicago social media campaign. From July 12-August 13 capture images of you and your teams and submit them through social media using the below directions. We’ll use your images to showcase how essential you are to powering progress in the region.
Entries that go the furthest in showing union pride and the essential nature of the work we do will be selected to be featured in a Chicago Sun-Times Labor Day ad.
From July 12-August 13 capture images of you and your teams in action in the field and submit them using the below instructions so we can showcase how essential you are to powering progress in Chicago and Cook County.
What Makes a Good Submission:
- Photos and videos do not have to be taken on the job site. Please take note of any NDAs for your job site and get permission from your foreman prior to taking photos while at work.
- Group pictures are encouraged. Make sure to include yourself and others (if applicable) in the image.
- Make sure the caption includes context for what’s happening in the image/video.
Here are step-by-step instructions for how to submit a photo:
- Take a photo or short video showing what makes you proud to work in the unionized electrical industry
- Log into Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram or Twitter and/or navigate to the home page/news feed
- Create a post and write a few words about the work you’re doing and what being a union electrician means to you, making sure to include the hashtags #PoweringChicagoProud and #UnionEssentialWorker in your caption
- Upload the photo with the post
- IMPORTANT: Make sure the privacy settings on the post are set to public. This is an important step, since we won’t be able to see your photo and message otherwise.
