On Friday, March 14, 2025, Powering Chicago joined hundreds from across the electrical industry at the 70th Annual St. Paddy’s Day Luncheon at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. Held in the historic International Ballroom, the event brought together more than 800 attendees to celebrate Irish heritage and the strength of the local electrical community.
From the lively music of the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band to exciting door prize drawings, the luncheon was filled with energy and tradition. Highlights included the presentation of the Francis P. Cummins Award, given in memory of Joseph C. Connelly, a respected leader in the industry, and the announcement of the 2026 Big Shillelagh, Mark P. Gibson.
“This event matters. This event does not occur anywhere else in the country, to my knowledge. This is very unique. This is a very special and sacred place where we respect each other. We engage with each other, we have fun together, and we can compete,” David Witz, the current Big Shillelagh and President at FourGen Holdings, said.
Powering Chicago was proud to be part of this long standing tradition and looks forward to many more years of celebrating the people and values that make this industry strong.
