For employers who work in the unionized electrical industry and other clean energy sectors, hiring and retaining top-tier talent can be a challenge. To address that challenge, Powering Chicago Executive Director Elbert Walters III will participate in a recruitment and retention panel, “Pathway to 1 Million Workers: Tools For Scaling Workforce Growth,” during the 2022 RE+ conference on Tuesday, September 20.
During the dialogue, Walters III will discuss with fellow panelists how the clean energy industry is perfectly poised to rethink how it attracts and recruits talent in 2022 and beyond. From bolstering the value of apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeship programs to placing a renewed emphasis on working with community partners and conducting long-term mentorships, Walters III will share how the Chicagoland union electrical construction industry works to create a hiring model that emphasizes diversity, equity and inclusion.
“It’s important that we share what we’ve learned about hiring and training highly-skilled, highly-qualified talent with fellow leaders in the clean energy sector,” said Walters III. “From our state-of-the-art IN-Tech facility to the educators who train our renowned IBEW Local 134 apprentices, this is a great opportunity to demonstrate our expertise in recruiting.”
Recognized as the “premier clean energy event” and the fastest-growing solar show in the nation by Trade Show Executive and Trade Show News Network, as well as internationally recognized for its commitment to innovations such as electric vehicles (EVs), microgrids, wind power, hydrogen fuel and fuel cells, RE+ acts as an opportunity for energy leaders to share insights and knowledge across a wide array of industries. The congregation hosts over 19,000 visitors during each conference, and features over 700 unique exhibitors during its 4-day long event.
The panel featuring Walters III will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. PST at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. To learn more about RE+ and registration information, visit the official website.
