Every year, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation pays tribute to fallen officers and their families through its annual tree lighting ceremony at the Gold Star Families and Memorial park. Situated at the memorial nestled between Soldier Field and Burnham Harbor, this year’s ceremony gained vibrancy with the backing of Powering Chicago member Midwest Interstate Electrical Construction Company.

Founded in 2006, the “Gold Star Families Park & Memorial”, stands as a testament to honor, remember, and acknowledge Chicago Police Department (CPD) officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation’s primary goal is to provide support to the cherished loved ones of CPD’s fallen heroes, the Gold Star Families.

The collaboration with Powering Chicago adds a dimension to this support, creating a luminous testament to the shared commitment to honoring lives and building legacies.

This is the second year the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation has worked with Powering Chicago members for the Christmas tree lighting ceremony.  Powering Chicago electrical contractor, Midwest Interstate Electrical Construction Co., along with their team of IBEW 134 electricians installed over 3,000 blue and white lights on three evergreen trees at the memorial site. They also received help from two industry partners, 3M Company and United Rentals, who stepped forward to support this cause with electrical supplies and the equipment needed to get the job done.   

Due to the underlying significance of this philanthropic effort, it became a heartfelt endeavor for the Midwest Interstate team.
