Through its partnership with the Chicago Public Schools District (CPS), Powering Chicago is pleased to continue supporting Chicago Builds. Chicago Builds is a two-year program for CPS students who are interested in exploring a career in the trades. Each student is able to explore the basics of electrical work in a safe and encouraging classroom led by experienced IBEW Local 134 electricians. Students are taught the very beginnings of electrical work with the option to become an IBEW Local 134 trainee and apprentice. This program is fully funded by Powering Chicago’s unionized contractors and electricians and aims to introduce CPS students all across Chicago to the electrical industry.
