On Sunday, May 9, the Chicago Blackhawks welcomed fans to the United Center for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the challenges the pandemic placed on the city, the Blackhawks celebrated Chicago’s resiliency with their One Community Night. One Community Night honored Chicago’s essential workers through messages played in the arena, special city-inspired warmup jerseys, and videos spotlighting three stars of the community during each period. One of the three videos featured Powering Chicago and its executive director Elbert Walters III.
In the video, Walters highlights the many important roles that Powering Chicago union contractors and electricians played before, during and after the pandemic as essential workers.
