The latest episode of ‘The Power of Better’ offers an exclusive look into the dynamic T5 Data Center in Elk Grove Village. Viewers are taken behind the scenes to witness the critical role of Powering Chicago’s member contractor, Gibson Electric an Emcor Company, played in leading the expansion of this mission critical facility. Currently, the center operates at a capacity of 17 megawatts across 174,000 square feet. The episode spotlights the center’s ambitious expansion, aiming to add a substantial 30,000-40,000 square feet.

This expansion project serves as a testament to Gibson Electric’s expertise in electrical construction. Their process starts with thorough planning during a virtual design phase before any physical work takes place. This planning is vital to ensure a more reliable power supply. Gibson Electric excels in handling the intricate technical aspects of large expansions, such as optimizing electrical systems, enhancing safety protocols, and integrating sustainable solutions.

“Luckily, here in Chicago, we’ve got a great supply of trained workers. We get a lot of comments from people that come from out of town here and they’re amazed how much work we do with smaller crews. A 100-man crew in somewhere like Virginia is really like a 60-man crew here,” said Matt Kelly, Senior Vice President at Gibson Electric. 

The collaboration between T5 and Gibson Electric exemplifies a partnership based on trust, quality, and ethical practices.
