IBEW Local 134 Union Hall Wins Two Design Awards

The IBEW Local 134 Union Hall has won two design awards from the American Institute of Architects Northeast Illinois Chapter 2019 Design Awards. The Hall took home the Merit in Design, Divine Detail award and the Excellence in Design, Distinguished Building over $5 million award.
The chapter granted a total of six awards at Excellence in Design and Merit in Design levels out of the forty-eight entries submitted. In addition, five individuals were honored for thirty-five plus years as AIA Northeast Illinois chapter members.
The Hall was recognized in the Divine Detail award for the Firefly Illuminated Feature Wall (pictured above). Wight & Company was the architect who designed the building.
Entries were submitted in the following categories: Architectural Expression, Residential Architecture, Divine Detail, Interior Architecture, Preservation / Adaptive Reuse, Sustainable Design, Distinguished Project < $500,000, Distinguished Building < $5 million, Distinguished Building >$5 million. The highly acclaimed jury was led by Carol Ross Barney, FAIA and also included: David Brininstool, AIA (Principal, Brininstool + Lynch), Margaret McCurry, FAIA (Principal, Tigerman McCurry), Patricia Saldaña-Natke, FAIA (Principal, Urban Works), Ann Thompson, AIA (Senior Vice President, Related Midwest), and David Woodhouse, FAIA (Principal, Woodhouse Tinucci Architects).
