Big Savings Ahead: How Illinois Residents Can Save Up to 80% on EV Charging Station Installations and Get $4,000 Off EV Purchases

Illinois residents have the opportunity to capitalize on exciting new rebates and incentives for EV charging stations, unlocking significant savings of up to 80% on installation costs. But the benefits don’t stop there; the state also offers enticing rebates for purchasing electric vehicles (EVs), which can reduce the cost by $4,000. Illinois’s Climate and Equitable Jobs Act plays a pivotal role in promoting these incentives by providing rebates and incentive programs that cover up to 80% of project costs for EV charging stations in underserved communities and areas affected by environmental injustices. Furthermore, the Inflation Reduction Act extends the federal EV tax credit, allowing EV owners to enjoy credits of up to $7,500 for vehicles placed into service after December 31, 2022, for the next ten years. Specific credit amounts depend on factors such as vehicle sourcing and assembly, and certain used EVs may qualify for a separate credit of $4,000 or 30% of the vehicle’s price. To top it off, the Electric Vehicle (EV) Rebate Program in Illinois grants eligible residents up to $4,000 off the purchase price of new and used EVs from licensed dealers. The Illinois EPA recently announced the application window for the third funding round opens November 1, 2023 and runs until January 31, 2024. Additionally, starting in 2024, individuals can choose to immediately receive the EV tax credit as a discount at the time of purchase, allowing dealers to reduce the vehicle’s price by the eligible credit amount. With such generous incentives in place, now is the perfect time for residents in Illinois to embrace the electric revolution, enjoy substantial savings, and contribute to a greener future.
