Chicago’s Electrical Community Unites to Host Holiday Luncheon for Chicago Homeless Children

In the heart of Chicago, a special event brightens the holiday season for those who need it most. For 32 years, the electrical industry has come together to  host its Annual Christmas party, dedicated to bringing joy and warmth to homeless children in the Chicago area. Sponsored by the Chicagoland Electric Association Education Foundation (CEACF),  this event unites Chicago’s electrical industry to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children from seven area shelters.

The  IBEW Local 134 Hall was transformed into a magical holiday setting. Children spent the day dancing, singing, and enjoying performances by the energetic Jesse White Tumblers and former Chicago Bear Israel Idonije. These special guests added an extra layer of excitement and joy to the festivities.

Organizing this joyous event is a collaborative effort by the Chicagoland Electric Association Education Foundation, various electrical companies, and dedicated volunteers. Their collective efforts provide a memorable day of celebration, gifts, and a festive meal, offering lasting support to the children and shelters involved.

“We see the joy in the children’s faces when they walk in and see the massive effort of so many companies, so many donors and over 50 volunteers who come together to spread joy and smiles and food and gifts and all the fun every single year,” said Ali Novinger, Executive Director at Electrical Association.

Beyond this single day, the impact of the CEAEF’s work extends to providing essential resources to shelters through toy drives, volunteer contributions, and donor support. This sustained effort demonstrates a profound and enduring commitment to helping families in need. The monetary support for the event, including donations for bus transportation, supplies, and entertainment, as well as a large gift for each shelter, ensures that every aspect of the luncheon is catered for, making it a truly special occasion for the children.

This event stands as a testament to the spirit of community and selflessness. Volunteers and organizers from the  electrical industry set aside their titles, focusing solely on bringing joy to those in need. “It’s an event where everybody just comes down to help,” said Al Rzeczkowski, Committee Chairman. This unifying spirit makes the luncheon more than a festive occasion; it’s a manifestation of the true meaning of community and giving.

Orchestrated by the CEAEF and its partners, this annual luncheon is more than just an event; it’s a legacy of love and giving. It highlights the power of community and the impact of collective efforts in spreading joy and hope. The Chicagoland Electric Association Education Foundation, with its partners and volunteers, continues to make a significant difference, one child at a time.
