Throughout its history, Super Electric Construction Company has evolved alongside Chicago and the electrical industry itself. From early railroad and electrical substation work to high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, healthcare environments, mission-critical facilities, and data centers, the company has consistently adapted to meet changing market demands.

“Whatever the industry was at the time, Super Electric Construction Company has been able to adapt to it,” said Ryan Schult, President of Super Electric Construction Company. “We’ve always been open to looking at new opportunities and figuring out how they can work for us.”

That willingness to evolve has helped the company remain successful through decades of industry change. Super Electric Construction Company has completed work on some of Chicago’s most recognizable facilities and developments, including projects at Chicago Midway International Airport, O’Hare International Airport, Wrigley Field, the United Center, major manufacturing facilities, healthcare institutions, data centers, and more.

The company’s project portfolio reflects a simple philosophy: adapt to emerging opportunities while maintaining the quality and expertise clients expect from a trusted Chicago electrical contractor.

One project that stands out in the company’s history is the Wrigley Field bleacher expansion. According to Ryan Schult, it represented one of Super Electric Construction Company’s first major stadium projects and required the team to work under an aggressive schedule.

“We had to be done for opening day,” Ryan Schult said.

Completing work on one of Chicago’s most recognizable landmarks demonstrated the company’s ability to deliver complex electrical construction projects while meeting demanding timelines. It also reinforced Super Electric Construction Company’s reputation as a trusted partner for large-scale commercial and public projects throughout the region.

As Chicago’s economy evolved, Super Electric Construction Company expanded beyond its early work on railroads, electrical substations, and industrial facilities into manufacturing plants, high-rise construction, hospitals, schools, transportation infrastructure, commercial developments, and, more recently, mission-critical facilities and data centers.

These newer sectors demand reliability, precision, and highly trained electricians. As businesses increasingly depend on digital infrastructure and uninterrupted operations, electrical systems have become more complex and more essential than ever before.

For company leaders, these projects represent more than completed work. They reflect the skill, dedication, and craftsmanship of the electricians who make them possible.

“It’s pretty cool to see all these different things in the city,”  said WC Schult, Executive Vice President at Super Electric Construction Company. “You drive past a building and know what’s inside. You know what it took to make it happen.”

That sense of pride comes from knowing their work helps power the places where people live, work, travel, receive healthcare, and conduct business every day.

A Legacy Built by Skilled Electricians

While projects and technology have changed over the years, one constant has remained: the people.

Super Electric Construction Company’s leadership credits much of the company’s success to the talented electricians and professionals who have built its reputation over nine decades.

“We’ve been blessed by some very talented individuals that have worked with us along the way,” said WC Schult. “We’ve been fortunate to hire the right people at the right time.”

That commitment to people extends beyond hiring. Throughout its history, Super Electric Construction Company has maintained a close partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134.

Over the years, several Super Electric Construction Company electricians have become instructors in IBEW Local 134’s apprenticeship and training programs, helping prepare future generations of electricians for successful careers in the trade.

This partnership has helped Super Electric Construction Company develop and maintain a highly skilled workforce while contributing to the long-term strength of the electrical industry throughout Chicago and Cook County.

That commitment to skilled electricians has helped create a culture where careers span decades, and family connections often extend across generations.

Former Vice President Phil Partipilo experienced that culture firsthand throughout his long-standing career with the company.

“Working with my father and working with multiple family generations of electricians and ownership throughout the years was one of the most memorable parts of my career,” said Partipilo.

According to Partipilo, at one point, approximately 40% to 50% of Super Electric Construction Company’s electricians had family members who either worked for the company or had worked there previously. Some families represented two or even three generations of employees.

“Chicago is very different from everywhere else in the country,” Schult said. “We work hand in hand. Without the electricians, we don’t have a whole lot to do, and without the contractors, the electricians don’t have a lot to do.”

“The way the owners treat employees and customer like family has always been important,” said Partipilo. 

That combination of skilled electricians, strong partnerships, and a family-oriented culture has helped Super Electric Construction Company build a workforce that remains one of its greatest strengths 90 years after the company was founded.

Technology Has Changed. Quality Has Not.

Over the last 90 years, the electrical industry has experienced dramatic technological advances.

Projects that once required manual calculations and paper drawings are now designed, coordinated, and modeled digitally before construction begins. New tools, software platforms, and automation technologies continue to transform how work is performed.

“Technology has changed everything,” Ryan Schult said. “Starting with computers and now GPS and robotics, it’s crazy how fast the industry is changing.”

Yet despite those advancements, the company’s leaders emphasize that technology cannot replace skilled craftsmanship.

“We’ve always had great electricians to get the job done, and we still do,” Partipilo said. “At the end of the day, they’re the ones doing everything.”

That belief continues to guide Super Electric Construction Company’s approach to workforce development, project execution, and customer service.

Reaching a 90-year milestone is a remarkable achievement, but Super Electric Construction Company’s leaders remain focused on the future.

Looking back on the company’s history, Ryan Schult believes one of Super Electric’s greatest strengths has been its ability to evolve alongside the industry.

WC Schult believes the company’s future will continue to be built on the same foundation that has carried it through the last 90 years: talented electricians and strong partnerships.

Partipilo believes the next generation of electricians and company leaders should never lose sight of the values that have shaped the company’s success

“Stay humble, treat everyone fairly, and keep people accountable,” he said.
