Powering Chicago Sponsors Third Annual Chicago Drives Electric Event

Powering Chicago proudly sponsored the third annual  Chicago Drives Electric event, organized by The Chicago Auto Trade Association (CATA.) Attendees gained experience and knowledge about the latest lineup of all-electric, hybrids, and plug-in hybrid vehicles during the October 3-6 event at CATA’s headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace. Product Specialists were onsite to answer questions about how Electric Vehicles (EVs) might fit an individual’s needs and lifestyle, the latest technology, EV charging infrastructure, and the environmental benefits of going electric.

Attendees had the exclusive opportunity to test drive a variety of EVs spanning from luxury to mainstream, including the Audi Q8 e-tron, BMW i5, Cadillac LYRIQ, Chevrolet Blazer EV RS, Kia EV6, and Toyota Camry XLE.

On October 3rd, Powering Chicago’s Executive Director, Elbert Walters III, participated in a panel discussion and Q&A on “The Current State of EVs,” presented by CDK Global.  The panel focused on the evolving electric vehicle landscape and featured representatives from Cars.com, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and ComEd. Rob Duffer, President of the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA), served as the moderator.

Powering Chicago is committed to supporting CATA’s mission to raise awareness about EVs and the importance of utilizing licensed and qualified electrical contractors to install EV chargers and infrastructure.
