Sisters of IBEW Local 134 Host Very First ‘Taste of Local 134’

On Saturday, July 20th, the Sisters of IBEW Local 134 hosted the first Taste of Local 134. The event focused on bringing together the brothers and sisters of IBEW Local 134 for a day of bonding and camaraderie.

“It’s a special day. We are celebrating the sisters and brothers coming together and presenting their food dishes,” said Amanda Blair, President of Sisters of IBEW Local 134. “Everyone’s grilling, anything from empanadas, Puerto Rican rice,  pita, hamburgers, and hot dogs to chicken, fish, and chips.”

This special event was more than just a culinary showcase. It was a day to celebrate the unity and diversity of the IBEW Local 134 family. Attendees had the opportunity to build new relationships with fellow members and participate in fun activities with their families, such as face painting and enjoying the DJ.

“It’s great to have people come out on the weekend if they have the time and bond with each other and share food,” said Anna Durrett, Apprentice at IBEW Local 134. “Breaking bread is, I think, so important. Getting to know one another.”

If you couldn’t attend this year, the Sisters of IBEW Local 134 are already looking forward to hosting this event next year, hoping to see more brothers and sisters in attendance.

“Thank you to our sponsors, and thank you to everyone who again showed out and showed up today. It truly means a lot. We are so thankful, so grateful, and we can’t wait for what next year will bring,” said Blair.
