From October 9-12, representatives from nearly 20 Powering Chicago member contractors descended on Nashville, Tenn. for the annual National Electrical Contractors’ Association Convention and Trade Show. The annual event – which was held virtually last year due to COVID-19 restrictions – allows attendees an opportunity to network with industry professionals, explore new tools and technologies that are advancing the industry forward, and attend educational sessions that explore relevant topics to the unionized electrical industry.
In addition to the educational opportunities the 2021 NECA Convention and Trade Show offers, attendees also got to experience the culture and history of Nashville firsthand. From opening ceremonies with live music and networking opportunities to a keynote address and musical performance from John Rich of the country music duo Big & Rich, this year’s show offered a host of opportunities to explore Nashville and its musical roots. Breakout sessions included a roundtable for Women in NECA/Future Leaders as well as an opportunity for Powering Chicago staff to discuss marketing and business development strategies and opportunities with various LMCC’s from across the country.
The convention trade show floor featured new tools and technologies that are improving the electrical industry. From new estimating software that is cloud-based to allow multiple users to access the information at once, to robotic machines contractors can deploy into the field to gather data points for an electrical layout, technology that can improve workflow as on full display this year.
Finally, a special congratulations goes out to Maron Electric’s Eric Nixon and FourGen Holdings/Continental Electric’s David Witz for their inductions into the Academy of Electrical Contracting. The Academy honors outstanding leaders in the electrical contracting industry.
